Introducing 2016 Jester King Vague Recollection
September 7, 2017
We’re pleased to introduce 2016 Jester King Vague Recollection — a blend of 35% young Das Überkind and 65% foudre-aged Bière de Miel, aged on the grape pomace from Jester King Bière de Lenoir!
Back during the summer of 2016, we crushed several hundred pounds of Texas-grown Lenoir grapes from Torre di Pietra Vineyards in Fredericksburg, Texas. Leftover from crushing the grapes was the pomace, or otherwise known as the skins, pulp, seeds, and stems. Earlier that summer, we had visited our friends at Creature Comforts Brewing Co. in Athens, Georgia for the release of our collaboration beer Mutualism. While there, we got an advance taste of The Curious No. 10 — a mixed fermentation beer aged on grape skins. We were completely blown away and came home inspired to age beer on the pomace from the grapes we’d soon be crushing that summer. So cheers to Creature Comforts for the inspiration!
2016 Vague Recollection is 6.1% alcohol by volume, 16 IBU, 3.5 pH, and 0.999 specific gravity (-0.3 Plato). It was packaged on November 15th, 2016, and is unfiltered, unpasteurized, and 100% naturally conditioned through refermentation in the serving vessel.
2016 Vague Recollection will be released at Jester King at 4pm on Friday, September 8th. It will be available by the glass and in bottles to go. We have about 1,700 bottles (750ml/$20) available with a bottle limit of three (3) per customer per day. Aside from special events, we do not anticipate that Vague Recollection will be available outside our tasting room.
