Open Brew Day with Mikkeller, Houston & Dallas Beer Week

November 10, 2011

On Wednesday, 11/16, Jester King and Mikkeller will join forces for our second official collaboration and our first ever joint brewing day. We will be making the Texas edition of Beer Geek Brunch, which we’ve decided to call “Ale”/“Malt Liquor” in TX Geek Brunch. This will also be Jester King’s first official Open Brew Day.

From noon to 8pm, we are inviting a limited number of guests to come meet Mikkel Borg Bjergø and Thomas Schön from Mikkeller, watch us brew, and sample some “Danish-American BBQ” courtesy of chef Jakob Mielcke Hansen from one of Europe’s most highly renowned restaurants, Mielcke & Hurtigkarl in Copenhagen. The cost is $30 per adult, which includes parking, access to and use of brewery grounds, samples of Jakob’s delicious food, a souvenir glass, a personalized tour of the brewery, and time to interact with the brewers in a relaxed, casual setting. Of course, we’ll also have free samples of various Jester King and Mikkeller beers, and maybe even one or two other special guest beers, available throughout the day. Tickets are available online at this link:

If you can’t make it out on Wednesday, please join us on Tuesday, 11/15 for an informal meet and greet at Black Star Co-op, with Mikkel, Thomas, and Christian Gregory from Shelton Brothers, starting at 6pm.

This coming week is also both Houston Beer Week and Dallas Beer Week, with plenty of exciting events taking place in both cities. The 2nd annual Monsters of Beer Charity Festival will take place this Saturday, 11/12, at Guadeloupe Park in Houston,. Last year’s Monster of Beer was the first major event at which Jester King beers were served to the general public! This year, many of you will have your first opportunity to taste our new farmhouse editions of Wytchmaker Rye IPA and Black Metal Imperial Stout. Then, the following night, Sunday, 11/13 for the Night After Monsters at Whole Foods Montrose, we’ll be introducing our newest beer, Noble King Hoppy Farmhouse Ale to the Houston market. On Monday, 11/14, we’ll be joining Mikkel and Thomas for a special Mikkeller/Jester King Beer Dinner at Haven. Then on Thursday, 11/17, we head up to Dallas for a second Collaborative Beer Dinner at Common Table, which will also mark the Dallas debut of Noble King. Finally, on Saturday, 11/19, the first annual Dallas Beer Festival will be held at Fair Park, once again featuring Farmhouse Wytchmaker and Farmhouse Black Metal. On Sunday, 11/18, we sleep.
